How To Open Vimeo in My Lovely Indonesia (updated)

I’ve just come back home from Iran few days ago. And I feel that I need to update this post! In Iran, the government blocked so many websites especially which the servers are in the U.S such as Facebook, Youtube, (of course) Vimeo and even PayPal.

It was first shocked when I just arrived in Iran. So, I tried to use V.P.N that I have (Zenmate) and it totally didn’t work there. I tried others and it still didn’t work. Fiuh…. Those strong V.P.N didn’t work in Iran for sure even more in China and even more in North Korea. hahaha 😀

After I asked one of my friend, he shared Lantern. I installed on my phone. I used it through phone and I didn’t feel that the internet speed became slower. But it has limit around 500 Mb if you use it for free. And it also takes a lot of internet data. It was not the best solution but I didn’t have any other options yet. You can download here.

Then I needed V.P.N for my computer. I talked with my lil Iranian bro (So) about my problem and he shared with me one app that for now, I think it’s the best free V.P.N. They have PC and Android version (unfortunetly, it still hasn’t had Mac version). I like this Psiphon because from my experiences, it doesn’t reduce the speed of internet which usually other free V.P.N do, it doesn’t have limitaion a.k.a quota and it doesn’t take a lot of data. It’s Psiphon. I tried opening vimeo with this and it worked well. But yeah, speed depends on your internet that you have. In my home the speed works well where usually with other V.P.N, the speed is reduced.

Actually my Iranian bro (Mo) already told me about Psiphon, but then I forgot about it until I was in Iran. Oh my brain….hehehe.

I think, people already know that Vimeo is banned by Indonesian Government. So, we can’t open Vimeo here. In the beginning, it was not a big problem because we just needed to change our DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 then we could open Vimeo normally. But since maybe about a half year ago, we can’t use that anymore.

For people who put their portofolio or usually search references on Vimeo like me, of course it’s kinda a big problem. So, I asked my friends and also searched on internet to find solution.

I think the only solution is we have to use kind of application on our browser program. I found 2 add-ons (extentions) that we can use.

First, anonymoX. With this application, your internet will be slower. And it has limitation, only can access 500 MB. For unlimited, you have to pay. You can find it on Google webstore or Mozilla Firefox extentions.

Second, ZenMate. You also can find it on Google webstore or Mozilla. I found it last time when anonymoX was enough (500 MB) for me and I tried to find other solutions. I searched information about it, I didn’t find about the limitation of access. And it’s simpler than anonymoX.

Or you can use other kinda applications like those (Site/VPN unblocker).
